VELUX awarded Platinum EcoVadis rating

PUBLISHED: 11TH JUNE, 2025

In 2025, VELUX achieved Platinum status in the annual EcoVadis sustainability assessment – a significant milestone that marks our progress from a Gold rating in 2024. With a score of 86 out of 100, up from 78 last year, we are now placed in the top 1% of more than 150,000 rated companies worldwide.

This recognition reflects our continuous efforts to integrate sustainability deeply across our business – from environmental performance to ethical governance and responsible sourcing. EcoVadis evaluates companies across four key themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement, considering both the strength of policies and the quality of their implementation.

Our improved performance this year is the result of steady progress across all four themes, including:

  • A 96/100 Environment score, supported by our first-time disclosure to CDP;
  • Enhanced documentation and transparency throughout our operations; and
  • Stronger evidence of procedures and practices company-wide.

While no single project drove this change, the Platinum rating is a testament to the collective and sustained work across our teams. It not only strengthens our position as a sustainability leader in our industry but also helps build trust with partners and customers who rely on EcoVadis to assess performance and manage risk in their value chains.

BayWa 2024 Update

In 2022, the VELUX Group signed two new virtual power purchase agreements with BayWa r.e. that will drive the development of two new solar (photovoltaic) PV parks in southern Spain. The solar plants will generate 167 GWh of renewable electricity annually. That is enough power to cover all the VELUX Group’s European operations today - and several years ahead - and it constitutes about 90% of our current global electricity consumption. Enabling new solar plants is part of our work to achieve 100% renewable electricity and will help us reach the emissions reduction target for our global operations by 2030.
