Approach & progress
VELUX roof windows are all about transforming spaces to enhance well-being and create healthy indoor environments. Since the company was founded in 1941, we have been shaped by our Model Company Objective and worked to create products that are both functional and useful for society.

Our value chain approach

For each of the main activities of our business – from sourcing raw materials, to producing and installing our products, to their end of life – we are working to better understand, evaluate and minimize any negative environmental or social impacts.

This helps us to ensure that our products are differentiated across the value chain, from sourcing of raw materials to their end of life.

Embedding sustainability into our corporate strategy

We have high ambitions for improving sustainability across our value chain. To turn these ambitions into actions that get results, we have set a number of sustainability targets to guide our efforts.

We recently incorporated these sustainability targets into our corporate strategy. This decision demonstrates our commitment to integrating sustainability practices across all parts of our organisation – from selecting our suppliers to the way we design our products right until their end-of-life handling. We strive to lead the way in sustainable business practices in our sector and inspire change in the construction industry; furthermore, we want to be part of the movement to provide more sustainable, healthy, and affordable buildings where people can live, work, and thrive.

Model Company Objective

The way we approach sustainability is in line with our Model Company Objective, which our founder Villum Kann Rasmussen formulated in 1965. With the Model Company Objective, we aim to set a positive example through our behaviour. It guides how we respectfully engage with the people with whom we work, defines how we give back to the societies in which we operate and sets the direction for how we responsibly work with scarce natural resources.
